Hi Fourth Grade Gardeners!
I've been going up to the garden every day while I am at work and it looks nice!
We now have 2 rows of tiny carrots, one row of itty-bitty beets, 2 rows of very slender onions, 2 hills of pumpkins who have their first leaves now. Our green bean plants are growing and look so much bigger than anything else in the garden. They remind me of the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, where the bean seeds just grew and grew.
Alas and alack, our potatoes were not going anywhere at all. They are still underground but are not sprouting at all...They most likely have been sprayed with an inhibitor so that they do not sprout!
SO as not to waste space in a tiny garden, I have planted 3 tomato plants and one lonely cucumber plant in the middle of the tomatoes.
I'll mulch in a week or so, once the plants are a little bigger.
Remember as things begin to grow, you will be able to pick. YOu are welcome to use some of our (abundant?) produce at home and then to save some for our soup. I'll be adding plastic baggies to our gardening supplies into the plastic box that holds the key to the spigot. Remember, the box is right outside of the front door.
Again, thanks for helping. Feel free to posthere if you have any questions. Photos are welcome!
Happy gardening!

Fourth grade garden blog

Hi Fourth Grade Gardeners!
This Blog is for you and your families to write about anything that you may notice when you are working with our garden this summer.
When it is your turn to garden, feel free to come back to our blog and report back on things that you find...
What kinds of thing might that be?
Do you see any kind of diseases on your plant?
Do you notice any kind of insect damage?
What happens when it has rained a lot for a few days? Have the pumpkins grown a lot during that time?
What kinds of weeds are you seeing?
Which plants are fast growers? Which are slow growers?
I'll look forward to meet you on our blog this summer!
Happy gardening!
Leann
